It’s not just children who can learn how to play with their pets.
Dogs, cats and other animals can also learn to play with their owners. The more fun they have, the better it will be for both of you. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your pet’s playtime.
1. Make sure your pet knows the rules.
You should make sure that your pet understands what you expect from them when playing.
For example, if you want your dog to come back to you after a game, tell him/her. Also, let your pet know when he/she is playing too close to you or other people.
2. Keep your pet safe.
When you play, always keep an eye on your pet so that they don’t get hurt. If you’re playing in a yard, make sure your pet stays on the leash. If you’re playing indoors, make sure your pet doesn’t go into areas where there are sharp objects.
3. Play with your pet.
Play with your pet often so that he/she will enjoy it. Playing with your pet gives him/her a chance to get exercise. It also teaches your pet how to interact with you.
4. Teach your pet new tricks.
If you want to teach your pet something new, start by making sure that your pet is already familiar with the trick. For example, if you’ve taught your pet to sit, try teaching them to stand up. This way, you’ll be able to practice the trick without having to spend time teaching them how to do it again.
5. Reward your pet.
To make sure that your pet will continue to play with you, reward him/her for every good trick. You can give your pet treats or play with him/her for a few minutes.
6. Take your pet out frequently.
Dogs and cats love to play outside. Try taking your pet out frequently so that he/she will have plenty of chances to play with other dogs and cats.
7. Give your pet plenty of attention.
Your pet needs to know that you love him/her. To show this, make sure that you give him/her plenty of attention. Your pet will love you even more if you treat him/her like a person.
8. Talk to your pet.
If your pet is a puppy, talk to him/her. Puppies need to be trained early so that they will grow up to be well behaved dogs.
9. Don’t let your pet get bored.
Keep your pet entertained by giving him/her toys and games. If your pet isn’t interested in playing with toys, you can also teach him/her how to play fetch.
10. Let your pet sleep with you.
Many people feel that sleeping with their pet is the best way to bond with them. You may also find that your pet likes to sleep with you because you are warm and comfortable.
11. Let your pet follow you around.
Many pets will follow their owners around. This means that you shouldn’t be afraid to let your pet follow you everywhere.
12. Play with your pet. Be patient.
Sometimes, it takes a while for your pet to get used to the idea of playing with you. Patience is a virtue when you play with your pet.
